Codema Systems Group recently completed the installation and commissioning of the extensive ozone decontaminator at Gipmans Planten in Venlo, which was founded in 1971.
Gipmans Planten is an innovative family business operating in vegetable plant and herb cultivation. To give young plant material maximum protection from viruses, bacteria and fungi, the business treats its irrigation water at the final stage before it reaches the plants. This requires a powerful system. The Aquazone, manufactured by Agrozone, can efficiently and quickly decontaminate as much as 100 m3 of water per hour. A system of this size is far from standard, which makes it quite unique in the horticultural industry.
Ozone is a nature-friendly way to treat water. It purifies water by dissolving the natural gas ozone. After reacting with the contaminant, the ozone reverts to oxygen.
Gipmans Planten’s mission is ‘Doing well by Doing Good’, which it achieves by creating added value. The goal of the business is to produce plants (in addition to 100% organically grown herbs) sustainably with full respect for people, plants and the environment. To achieve this level of sustainability, Gipmans Planten is currently investigating how it can grow strong and resilient crops with minimal use of energy, water, fertilisers and plant protection products. Nature-friendly ozone treatment is the perfect fit.
